I’ve been painting since I was 16 and hope to keep painting for as long as I can. I want to paint until I can’t paint any more. I love being an artist. It gives me an outlet for my crazy and vivid imagination. Painting also helps me with my motor skills. Every time I work on a painting I gain more control of my hands. It’s also good for my brain because I have to think about solving the problems that come up with each painting.

When I first started painting my mother heard me laughing. That made me feel really good that she liked that. My mother and father never discouraged me and always supported me wanting to be an artist.

I also had a great art teacher in college who inspired me. He got me started as an artist, showing me how to paint and draw. We did life drawing, still life painting, mix media, art history. We had a very thorough art education.

My favourite artists have always been Leonardo da Vinci, Group of 7, Monet and Van Gogh but my work has changed over the years.  I use to do more social commentary in a serious way but now I’m more drawn to humorous subject matter. I like what’s funny and topical. I like to do satire.

I like to base my paintings on food, burgers different things.  I get my ideas from movies, TV shows or magazine. Also from pop images. I put it all together in my own way and kaboom!!!

I first draw the characters out and create a story. Once I have that laid out I then begin painting. Some of the stuff I’ve made is pretty wild! My painting makes me happy and keeps me alive!
