Emily Bristow

Art is a way to express myself and have my visions come to life. My family is artistic and I started making art at a young age. I enjoy drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media. I work with a variety of mediums like markers, coloured pencils, paint and fabric.  Markers have bold colours that bring drawings to life. Coloured pencils provide shading and blending. With paint I can mix colours and experiment with textures. I sew fabric into functional objects with designs I have created.

If I see something that I admire or that inspires me, I can then do a portrait or a piece based on that idea. Sometimes an idea just pops into my head or I use my imagination.

I am still learning new skills and new materials. I am curious about new things but want to be careful as curiosity killed the cat.

My favorite artists are Van Gogh, Emily Carr and Picasso.
